WMS Components
The WMS is an eight (8) step process that integrates all five (5) elements of WMS i.e., Permit to Work (PTW), Job Safety Analysis, Energy Isolation, Temp. Defeatand SIMOPS.
Facilitate Implementation
Deviation from the WMS Standards:
- May be warranted in special circumstances, but the safety of personnel, theprotection of the environment and assets must not be jeopardized.
In such cases, a dedicated risk assessment shall be performed to evaluate the risks and identify controls to reduce the risk to ALARP.
Managing Deviations:
- Asset Owner shall request deviations from the WMS Standards along withthe Risk Assessment, in writing, to the Group Company Corporate HSE Vice President
ADNOC Classification: Internal
- Group Company Corporate HSE VP share it with ADNOC Group HSE for their review.
- Deviations from WMS Standards shall be approved by SVP HSE, ADNOC Group.
Emergency Deviations from WMS Standard:
- Emergency deviations are permitted, but the safety of personnel and protection of the environment and property must not be jeopardized.
- Once the emergency is controlled, the requirements contained in WMS Standards shall prevail.
Document retention – Minimum 12 Months
- For paper-based system, the original copy of the signed off documentation and all relevant attachments required as per WMS Standards.
- For companies utilizing electronic systems, other hard copies containing wet ink signatures or information not captured in the electronic system aspart of the documentation shall also be retained for a minimum period of twelve (12) months.
Training and Competency Assurance
- Asset Owner responsible to formally authorize and appoint competent WMS Signatories once the personnel have successfully completed relevant training & assessment.
- Details of personnel successfully completing the formal program shall be entered in the authorization and training database.
- Respective Training Certificates required as per WMS Standards shall have a validity of three (3) years and shall require refresher courses post expiration.
Note: Any change implemented during the emergency must be
re assessed and approved as a deviation.

Continuous Improvement
WMS Audits
- Tier 1 – Daily Individual permits or other WMS documentation shall be monitored (self-audit)
- Tier 2 – Annual audit program to assess the effectiveness of complete WMS Standards by typically Corporate HSE personnel or leadership team within the Group Company.
- Tier 3 – Independent as specified by ADNOC Audit guidelines
- The process of actively identifying and realizing improvement opportunities that will better enable ADNOC to achieve the intended outcomes of WMS.
- The potential sources of improvement opportunities include:
- Periodic review of WMS Standards
- Incorporation of the results of review, analysis on HSE performance, lessons learned during WMS implementation
